La pianista Deren Eryilmaz es actualmente la única instructora de nivel maestro del Enfoque Taubman en Europa, un método de entrenamiento especial desarrollado para eliminar las lesiones y el dolor que puede causar tocar el piano mejorando las técnicas de los pianistas. Eryılmaz apoya y trabaja con pianistas y músicos profesionales de cuatro rincones del mundo en la Deren Piano Academy, que fundó en Estambul en 2014 y luego en Londres en 2016.
Eryılmaz started her formal music education at the Music Preparatory School of Bilkent University in Ankara, Turkey. She continued her studies at the Piano Department of the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts of Bilkent University, where she won a merit scholarship. In 1999, she enrolled in the Rotterdam Conservatory where she worked with Michael Davidson and received her B.A. in 2003.
In 2007, Eryılmaz obtained her M.A. at the State Conservatory of Başkent University in Ankara. While studying under the supervision of Mehmet Okonsar, she also worked as a research assistant and organized national and international concert tours for the Başkent University String Orchestra. Between 2005 and 2009, Eryılmaz served as the Chair of the Selection and Organization Committee at The Center for Contemporary Arts, Ankara. Throughout four concert seasons, the Committee organized over 100 chamber music concerts as well as electro-acoustic, world music, and jazz concerts by renowned international performers. From 2008 to 2011, she was a lecturer at Bilkent University’s Faculty of Music and Performing Arts. In addition to her academic responsibilities, Eryılmaz was the Coordinator of the Piano Department (2009-2011) and Performance Organization Coordinator of the Music Faculty (2008-2010). She also supervised the Early Age Music Training Program (2009-2010) and the Erasmus Departmental Exchange Program (2009-2011).
Eryılmaz started working on the Taubman Approach with Edna Golandsky in 2011 in New York. She was admitted to the Teacher Training Program of the Golandsky Institute in 2012. After obtaining the Instructor Certificate in 2014, she became an Associate Level Teacher in 2016 and Master Level teacher in 2021. While continuing to collaborate with Edna Golandsky, Eryılmaz teaches the Taubman Approach at the Deren Piano Academy, London, helping pianists overcome their technical limitations and injuries.
Throughout her career, Eryılmaz participated in several master classes and worked with Pascal Devonyon, Gülsin Onay, Mehmet Okonsar, Aquiles Delle Vigne, and Georgy Sandor. Eryılmaz performed at various festivals, gave solo and chamber music concerts, participated in multidisciplinary performances, and performed with national and university orchestras as a soloist in the Netherlands, Belgium, Turkey, and France. Eryılmaz also enjoys partaking in multidisciplinary projects and participating as a soloist in alternative and creative organizations. She gave workshops around the world, lately in Turkey, England (Royal College of Music, London), Scotland, Austria, Belgium and the Netherlands.
The students she has been teaching throughout her academic career have been successful in receiving acceptance to internationally distinguished schools with full scholarship grants, as well as in performing as soloists with various orchestras. Her students have also been receiving awards at international piano competitions. She currently lives in London and teaches the Taubman Approach in her academy. She has founded Deren Piano Academy to help pianists all over the world to overcome their technical limitations. She also pursues her career with solo and chamber music concerts and continues her studies with Edna Golandsky.
