Eulàlia Subirà

Born in Barcelona, she studied cello with Linda d' Oliveira, Elías Arizcúren, Peter Thiemann and María de Macedo in Barcelona and Madrid. In 1991 she specialised in the pedagogy of this instrument, obtaining the Suzuki Method Level 5 teaching qualification with Ann Grabe, Carey Beth Hockett, Penny Heath and Anja Maja in Lyon, London and Helsinki. Since 1992 she has been teaching cello at the Escuela Municipal de Música de Manlleu (Barcelona) where she works with pupils from the age of 4.
The aim of her teaching is to teach the instrument to all kinds of pupils, respecting and valuing their different abilities; to make the process of learning the precious language of music enjoyable both individually and collectively.
In 1998 she founded the ‘Grup de Violoncels de Manlleu’, made up of pupils from 8 to 14 years of age, with whom he has given educational concerts in different cities in Catalonia, Spain and England. The title of the show is: ‘Histories of music: from the 16th to the 21st century’.
She has given cello courses in different cities in Spain, France, Belgium, England, Palestine, Switzerland, Portugal, Lithuania, Denmark, Germany, Italy and Poland.
Since 2013 she is part of the teaching team of the Spanish Federation of the Suzuki Method, first as an Instructor with Arantza López Barinagarrementeria and since July 2017 as a trainer.
Eulàlia is regularly invited as a collaborator in the Suzuki Method teacher training courses of the French, English, German, Italian and Polish Federations.
She has organised more than twenty international cello courses in collaboration with different teachers from all over Europe and the United States.
Eulàlia has been the director of the Viccellofestival.cat held in Vic in February 2014.
She has been a Suzuki mother of three daughters.
