Dr. Christopher Fisher<\/span> is Professor of Piano at Ohio
\nUniversity in Athens, Ohio where he co-chairs the Keyboard Division and directs
\nthe nationally recognized undergraduate and graduate piano performance and
\npedagogy programs. He is the Artistic Director of the Ohio University Piano
\nPedagogy Seminar and is a Faculty Fellow for the 1804 Scholars Program. Dr.
\nFisher served as Director of the Ohio University School of Music from 2020-2022
\nand Assistant Director from 2019-2020. Recognized for his teaching, Dr. Fisher
\nwas the 2010 recipient of the Ohio Music Teachers Association Collegiate
\nTeacher of the Year Award and the Ohio University School of Music Distinguished
\nTeaching Award. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Fisher is the author of Teaching
\nPiano in Groups<\/i> (Oxford University Press, 2010), the only
\ncomprehensive group piano pedagogy textbook of its kind. A Chinese translation
\nof Teaching Piano in Groups<\/i> is also available. Dr. Fisher is
\nthe co-author of the revised and expanded edition of Piano Duet
\nRepertoire<\/i> (Indiana University Press, 2016) and co-author of Functional
\nSkills for Pianists<\/i> (Oxford University Press, 2022). He is also
\nco-editing the Oxford Handbook for Piano Pedagogy<\/i> (Oxford
\nUniversity Press) with Dr. Sally Cathcart. He has published in leading keyboard
\njournals including Keyboard Companion<\/i>, American Music
\nTeacher<\/i>, Clavier<\/i>, and Clavier Companion<\/i>. He is a contributing
\ncomposer for the innovative piano method, Piano Safari<\/i> (<\/span>www.pianosafari.com<\/span><\/b><\/a><\/span>), which is used by piano teachers and
\nstudents around the globe. His educational compositions are published by Alfred
\nMusic and Piano Safari. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In demand as a workshop clinician, Dr.
\nFisher has presented lectures nationally and internationally, including the
\nNational Conferences of the Music Teachers National Association (Washington,

\n2016; Orlando, Florida, 2018), the National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy

As a performing artist, Dr. Fisher
\nfrequently plays both solo and collaborative recitals, including duet and duo
\npiano performances with wife, pianist Katherine Fisher. The Fisher Piano Duo
\nwas awarded first prize in the Adult Duo Division of the Graves Piano and Organ
\nCompany\/OhioMTA Piano Competition in 2007. As a recording artist, Dr. Fisher
\ncan be heard on the MSR Classics label (Samplings: New Music for Bassoon and
\nPiano; MS1547). <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Fisher is an active member of
\nMusic Teachers National Association and has served as Vice-President for
\nConferences and Vice-President for Membership for the Ohio Music Teachers
\nAssociation; he presently serves as Collegiate Chapter Chair. He is the faculty
\nadvisor for the Ohio University Collegiate Chapter of MTNA, recipient of the
\n2021, 2019, and 2015 MTNA Collegiate Chapter Award. Dr. Fisher maintains a
\nstudio of pre-college students who have been successful at state and regional
\npiano competitions and festivals. He frequently serves as an adjudicator and
\nmaster class clinician at piano festivals and competitions throughout the
\nUnited States and abroad, including the MTNA Stecher & Horowitz Two Piano
\nCompetition, the OHIO International Piano Duet & Duo Competition, and the
\nUnited States Virtuoso Artists International Piano Competition. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

A native of Missouri, Dr. Fisher holds
