This five-day in-person course offers the opportunity to learn from internationally renowned pedagogue G\u00e9za Szilvay, whose creation of the Colourstrings method and work with children\u2019s and youth string ensembles in Finland have had a profound influence on music education worldwide.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

During the first three days, we will focus on the pedagogical principles of the Colourstrings method and their application to string teaching, as well as practical guidance on working with student string ensembles. Participants will discover how the child\u2019s ear, technical abilities and intellect can be developed in a balanced way, applying the principles of Zolt\u00e1n Kod\u00e1ly to instrumental teaching. Each day will conclude with participants playing together in a string ensemble, exploring both Colourstrings materials and additional repertoire, with opportunities to experience leading the ensemble from a teacher\u2019s perspective for those who wish so.<\/p>

The final two days will cover specific technical developments originally developed for violin and viola within the Colourstrings method. These sessions may also be of interest to cello and double bass teachers, who can adapt the ideas to their own instruments.<\/p>

Cello and double bass teachers are encouraged to attend the full course, although they may choose to attend only the first three days if they wish.<\/p>

Participants will leave with a deeper pedagogical understanding and many practical ideas that they can apply in their daily teaching, regardless of their preferred teaching method or approach.<\/p>\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

  1. Places are limited and will be reserved by strict order of application.<\/li>
  2. When the workshop is full, the application form will not be available, but you will be able to sign up for a waiting list in case a participant drops their place.<\/li>
  3. Taking pictures and the complete or partial recording of this course by the participants are forbidden, as well as its reproduction or broadcasting.<\/li>
  4. Without prejudice of the right of withdrawal, the fee is not refundable. The place cannot be used by a different person, or for any other course or other editions of the same course.<\/li>
